Learn how to make a "Sampler Quilt". Using a variety of techniques you will create 19 unique blocks to create a lap quilt. This quilt also has the addition of a pillow pouch, a Quillow. The quilt will fold into this pouch to make a cushion for attractive but practical storage.
On completion of this course, students will be able to read, understand and follow directions on quilting patterns. Prepare fabric and pattern pieces. Transfer markings. Accurate cutting. Assemble a variety of quilt blocks. Achieve basic knowledge of a sewing machine and routine maintenance of it. Recognise and use a variety of quilting tools, accessories and sewing machine attachments. Build a knowledge of basic sewing/quilting techniques. Binding and layering quilt. Quilting Techniques.
SUPPLIES
Fabric: A variety of pieces approx 4-5m total in 1/4 to 1/2 metre pieces.
Tools: Rotary cutter, cutting mat, wide plastic ruler, fabric scissors, sewing machine thread (neutral colour), hand sewing needles (tweens), glass-head pins, template plastic, ultra fine permanent pen, fabric marking pen.
